Jarana is the third part of the trilogy of the company Laia Santanach, where the dramaturgical research is based on tradition and ritual. After Àer (2019) e Tradere (2022), with Jarana (debut in 2024) she wants to investigate traditions that have disappeared, or are in danger of disappearing, and to imagine possible new traditional practices for the future. The research expresses the need to continue investigating root proposals from a contemporary point of view, passing through body and music.
Laia Santanach is a Barcelona-based choreographer, dancer and pedagogue. As dancer she has worked in various national and international companies and for renowned theatre directors such as Liliana Cavani, Àlex Ollé (La Fura Dels Baus), Joan Font (Comediants), Àlex Rigola (Teatro Stabile del Veneto). With Rèplica she is a finalist at the Institut del Teatre Award 2017. In 2018 she wins the Delfí Colomé Prize for her project Àer, currently on tour. She is the creator and co-director of the Minorca in Danza festival.
